    ESR 10mm Napoleonics

I bought the FRENCH MID WAR FORCE PACK: CORPS D'ARMÉE to provide a further brigade for my EPIC scale Waterloo collection. With suitable basing I do not think the scale difference of 10mm v 12.5mm will be hugely discordant on table. The ESR figures are nicely sculpted and although they are not hugely animated should paint well and look quite good en masse. The thing about this scale is the massed effect appearance, not individual painting excellence, and I think the ESR range will work well on table when you apply the 12"/30cm rule (which is the closest distance you look at a unit in play). The artillery and train were particularly nice but i was slightly disappointed that despite having three wagons in the Corps pack, there were only two seated figures to drive them. But that is only a minor niggle. On the whole I was very happy with the purchase, well done to The Wargaming Company.

Excellent figures, easy to paint. They have a wealth of clear detail that pops out. I saw no need to prime them. I sealed them with a latex clear (matte) spray because the plastic has a little flexibility, and the latex over coat holds it together and gives as much as the plastic.

They fit well with other manufacturers. I had a broken musket/bayonet that I couldn't find, so I used a similar figure from another source, and it worked out fine.

Every battalion has a command set, as does every cavalry group, which is OK, but it makes for too many flagstaffs/eagles. I will use other figures in place of the flagstaffs until TWC comes out with "bonus" or "extra" packs.

Gluing plastic of this type is always a problem - of holding the part in place until it dries. But once dry, the wheels stay on the vehicles, and they anchor well to the bases.

The campaign booklets are a great guide to painting these figures.

Overall, it's a joy to paint these - they virtually tell you where to put the brush. Surprisingly low eye strain.

French Mid War Force Pack: Corps D'Arme'e

These are the best small scale miniatures that I have had the pleasure of painting. The figures are fun to paint with incredible details that take the paint very well, and make it easy to pick out details you want to show. Cleaning up models for painting is easy too, with only minimal mold lines and minor tags. Recommend watching the removal of the figures from sprue video on the website, very helpful. The overall force is laid out well to provide a player with everything they need to assemble a starter army or add to an existing army, with all the bases, flags, plus leader & units cards you'll need for the game. Truly amazing figures.
